Who do you Ride For?

I have always ridden for myself to have fun with my mates and to learn as much as I can, but I now ride for FYVE snowboards an SHNOWEAR and also B.S.A snowboarding, big thanks for all their support.

Let’s start with a little history where your from?

Well I was born in Melbs then we moved to Echuca on the Murray River when i was 5. I left school at 16 to work in the vineyards and on my 18th b’day i went to the snow for the first time for a week at Falls Creek in 2000.  I had never had so much fun in my life! Unfortunately i didn’t return until my family moved to Bright (Vic) at the bottom of Falls Creek. When i lost my license speeding, i had no way of getting to work so i went to Falls to do my first season in 2004.  Now after 8 seasons of travelling the world and meeting such good friends, it was my best move ever!

Where’s the best place to ride?

Uummm hard question.  I will always love Falls Creek, Remarkables in New Zeland. and C.O.P Canada Olympic Park Calgary

Why’s that?

Well Falls is my home resort and it’s where i learned to ride and where i made most of my snow friends, it’s just fun to jib around in the slush there, and the park is real good as well. The Remarkables you have three chairs and two of them are all park, then the other chair is off-piste rock drops, pow lines and all that good shit!!  C.O.P, well top to bottom park runs in 5 minute laps then the Rocky’s about an hour away!!

How many years have you been boarding?

I have been snowboarding now for 6 years in June 2010.

Tell me about your job?

Ha ha, well at the moment I am working at my family’s pub/backpackers in Launceston (Tas) until my snow season starts then I am off to (NSW) for the winter.

Do you like to compete?

Yes I love to compete, because I love riding with other riders, pushing each other with new tricks and to meet new people and have fun!!

What is your best result?

Either making the finals to go to Mammoth Mountanin in the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam, or first place and Most Style award in the Coors Light, back yard rail jam in Norquay.

What’s your best move on and off the snow fields?

On- the moon walk!!
Off – Move your queen vertically up the line to take the pawn in front of your opponent’s king’s bishop to make the check mate! lol

What your style eg. jibber, pipe, free riding and park riding? What da Jizz?

Well my friends would say I am a park rat, well they’re not wrong.  I love my rails and jumps but I skateboarded before snowboarding and I was a street skater so I love to just go down a green or blue run and find any little hit, bump, jump or tree jib, anything I can find to have fun on!

Best pick up line?

I am a pro snowboarder in winter, then summer I am a dolphin trainer!

Have you ever been injured from snowboarding?

Yeh lots!  Just little things tho, a few sprained ankles, dislocated shoulder, broken finger and just hard falls where i would need to take a week or two off.

How the fuk do you handle down time??

I hate it!! I watch movies, and skate.  At the moment i am in Oz after spending 08/09 winter in Banff, then i had the summer there too.  The start of 09/10 Winter i went in a few comps then broke my shit and i had to come back from Canada. So now i have had a lot of down time, two summers and i now need to get back on the horse, fast!

Do you ever snowboard drunk?

After i finished my instructor exams in New Zealand we all had drinks and i went for a run through the park and hit some jibs and ate shit so bad, so never again.  When i was learning jumps at Falls 05 i would grab a Johnny can or two and that would give me a bit of dutch courage.

Who was your most influential snowboarders as you grew up.

Well i was 22 when i started, so it would just be all my friends who i ride with and who taught me along the way, but Aussi rider Michael Rosalky was a big influence

What’s the best movie you’ve seen?

That’s hard, for snowboarding it would be ’They came from’, Halldor Helgason’s part is amazing, smoothest double cork.  Other movie would be ’Braveheat’.

Is there anything that scares you about snowboarding?

YES, my kids might not get the same conditions in snow that i have had, since i have been snowboarding!!
