Bode Merrill has been quietly killing it. His banger ender in the eagerly awaited Neverland film loudly showcases his epic riding skills on a variety of terrain.
Hometown?
Salt Lake City, UT
You got the ender in Neverland. How was filming with the Absinthe crew?
It was amazing. Absinthe is the best crew to film with because there are no scripts or themes or plans. I woke up and did whatever I wanted to do on my snowboard on any day and documented it. The result ends up better that way.
What did you do this summer?
I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus so I sat on the couch for a couple months. Then I went on the Absinthe sphere of influence tour all over Europe. We traveled around on a tour bus for a month premiering Neverland in a new city everyday.
What are your plans for this winter?
Im on an RV trip across the states right now with Salomon and Bonfire to kick off the season. I’m filming with Absinthe again so after this tour I’ll just be chasing the snow and filming everyday. I have big plans to make it to Alaska this year and take a stab at some big mountain lines too.
Have you seen many other snowboard films, if so, what is your favourite section?
Yeah, I’m a big snowboard video nerd. My favorite part at the moment is Timmy Ronan in Bozwreck 3000
What is your board set up and who are your sponsors?
I ride for Salomon, Bonfire, The Levitation Project, Celtek, Magical GOGO, Skullcandy, Milosport, Park City
Swivels on rails…cool or not?
Yeah I’m down for them. I think everything is cool on a snowboard. Sure, I think some tricks look better than others but if something’s fun to do on your snowboard then it’s cool in my book.
Do you like early mornings?
It depends on what I did the night before! But usually I love to wake up early make a big pot of coffee and be up in the mountains before the rest of the world starts going
What did you eat for dinner?
Chicken noodle soup
Use 3 words to describe your feelings towards snowboarding?
exciting, scary, memorable
Random BSA question: Who would win in a fight between a gorilla and a polar bear and why?
A gorilla because they can attack from the ground and up in the trees. It would have to be a smart gorilla though.
Any words of Bode Merrill wisdom?
The impossible is often the untried.
